The Bible does not say what the recipe was brewed red pottage for which Esau gave up his birthright, but it seems to me that it was lentil soup and was extremely tasty. The soup that I offer you, is brewed based on traditional festive soup "Linsensupp e". Of course, the presence of fat and smoked reduce its its dietary qualities, it but it's festive food, cook it every day, Christmas, New year. And that means that the soup is very tasty, rich, velvety and soulful. I recommend highly!
Ingredients for German lentil soup
- Lentils - 1 Cup.
- Sausages - 4 PCs
- Brisket - 150 g
- Potatoes - 1 piece
- Carrots - 1 piece
- Onion - 1 piece
- Leek - 1 piece
- Vinegar - 1/4 Cup.
- Cumin - 1 tsp.
- Parsley - 1 Puig.
- Salt - 1 tsp.
- Black pepper
- Water - 1 l
Step by step instruction of cooking German lentil soup
Our products are for soup. In the original soup of lovage seeds are needed, at me such is not found, I replaced the caraway seeds and fresh greens with celery, quite a bit.
For soups and pottages it is best to use red lentils "Persian" or yellow lentils, "Turkish" OOO "Mistral". These varieties of lentils unwrapped and do not require pre-soaking and very well and quickly fall apart.
We will be cooking with red lentils.
Rinse the lentils with cold water and recline on a sieve.
Chop the vegetables. Leek cut into thin rings and be sure to rinse in a sieve under running cold water. So we release the bow from the ground, which sometimes collects between the leaves of the leek.
Cut bacon: separate bacon into small cubes and the meat separately.
Fat vytaplivaete on low heat for 7 minutes. Before you put in pan with bacon, pour a little vegetable oil, about 1 tablespoon, so the fat will receive the first "push" to the rendering and will not burn.
Add the remaining bacon and fry for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Put the brisket in a pan, put it on the fire and add onions. Fry for 5 minutes.
Add carrots and leeks. Fry, stirring, 5 minutes
Add the lentils, mix intensively for 3 minutes.
Pour 1 liter of cold water. Bring to a boil and cook on low heat for 10 minutes, from time to time removing the foam.
Add the potatoes and salt. Cook for another 10 minutes.
Add cumin, parsley, add sausage, add vinegar, pepper, bring to a boil and remove from heat. Cover with a lid and stand for 15 minutes.
It is possible to try. This is a very tasty soup!
