Barley porridge with potatoes or as it is otherwise called "Silk porridge" a Very tasty, hearty and budget dish of the Lithuanian cuisine, really worth the name.

Pearl barley wash thoroughly, cover with water and let stand for a few hours. Better at night.
Drain the water, pour two cups of water, salt and cook for about an hour on small fire.
When the barley is ready, I recline on a sieve and washed with hot water, then it will not be slimy.
Grate the potatoes on a coarse grater.
Finely chop the onion, melt the butter in a frying pan and fry the onion until Golden brown.
Then to the onions add the grated potatoes and fry until tender.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
Add the barley, all mix well dealeven if necessary, and add about 50 ml. of hot water.
Simmer all together for about 5-10 minutes.
