Baskets, Easter cakes and painted eggs – an indispensable attribute of Easter holiday. Today I offer to cook an edible Easter basket. Such a beautiful and unusual pastries will be a wonderful decoration of the festive table. But after the holiday it will be possible to eat)
Ingredients for Easter basket from dough
- Flour - 700 g
- Water - 150 ml
- Vegetable oil - 100 ml
- Yeast - 7 g
- Salt - to taste
- Sugar - 1 tsp.
- Chicken egg - 1 piece

Step by step instruction of cooking Easter basket from dough
Knead yeast dough for Easter baskets. In a mixing bowl, first mix the liquid ingredients ( water, vegetable oil, salt, sugar). Then add the flour and yeast knead the dough. Remove the dough in a warm place for one hour.
Prepare the form for the basket. It can be any heat-resistant form. I have a small enameled bowl. Wrap the selected form with foil and brush with vegetable oil.
Divide the dough into two parts. One part roll out to a thickness of approximately 1 cm And cut the dough into strips of 2 cm wide.
Put on the surface of the mold prepared strips – cross vertically ( as if drawing a snowflake *) they will form the basis of the basket. Press the dough on top to flatten the bottom of the future basket to basket after baking was stable.
Then weave in the vertical guides, the following strips, arranging them horizontally.
Whisk one egg and brush with the basket.
Bake in a preheated 180 degree oven for 20-30 minutes until Golden brown.
While the basket is baked. Roll out second half of dough and cut into wide strips (approximately 2 cm). From test strips weave a plait headband to the edge of the basket. As a guide the diameter of the circle on which the bowl you baked the basket. Brush braid with beaten egg and bake in a preheated 200 degree oven for 20 minutes until Golden brown.
When the basket and the rim of baked and cooled, just have to fasten them with wooden toothpicks.
