- Cod - 350 g
- Potatoes - 2 PCs
- Pearl barley - 2 tbsp
- Carrots - 1 piece
- Onion - 1 piece
- Dill - to taste
- Bay leaf - 1 piece
- Black pepper - to taste
- Allspice - 5 PCs
- Salt - to taste
- Tomato paste - 1 tbsp
- Water - 2.5 l
- Vegetable oil - 3 tbsp.
Step by step instruction of cooking Tomato soup with cod and barley
When cooking basic fish dishes (roasting, braising), are always small bits and pieces ranges from which you can prepare various soups/stew. Today I invite you to cook with me one of these soups.
Pearl barley (2 tbsp) to soak in cold water for 1-1. 5 hours. Then rinse in several waters.
In a saucepan, add cold water (2.5 liters), add the washed pearl barley. Put the saucepan on a medium heat, bring to boil, if necessary, remove the formed foam. Then lower the heat to low and cook grits until soft.
Potatoes (2 small potatoes) cut into cubes.
Add to broth with barley potatoes, add a few peas of fragrant pepper (5-6 PCs.), add the Bay leaf, add salt to taste and black pepper. Cook the potatoes until soft, then add the ridges and the pieces of cod. Boil the fish until tender.
Carrots to chop straws, chop onion half-rings.
In a pan add 2-3 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Sauté onions and carrots until light Golden brown, then add 1 tablespoon of tomato paste. Mixture stir well, add 1-2 tablespoons of broth.
Fresh herbs chopped.
For 3-5 minutes until the fish is cooked add the browned vegetables, add fresh herbs. Soup another good stir and remove from heat. The soup looks quite budget, but no less delicious.
