Undeservedly forgotten, but in Russia valued barley porridge. "pearl" is a gem, what it says... Hearty and perfect for a Lenten table.
Ingredients for Barley with vegetables
- Pearl barley - 120 g
- Onion - 1 piece
- Carrots - 1 piece
- Potatoes - 1-2 PCs
- Broccoli - 100 g
- Beans - 50 g
- Garlic - 5-6 tooth.
- Curry - 1 tsp.
- Salt
- Water - 500 ml
- Vegetable oil - 2 tbsp
Step by step instruction of cooking Barley with vegetables

The cereal soak in the evening to swollen.

Fry in butter finely chopped onion for 1-2 minutes.
Then add finely chopped garlic and curry powder, mix well.
1 inuto add the pearl barley (without liquid for soaking), sliced carrots and diced potatoes. Pour water, cover and cook at a gentle simmer for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes, add the broccoli and green beans (I thawed), salt to taste.
And cook another 8-10 minutes.
