Ingredients for Berlin "bread"
- Chicken egg - 2 PCs
- Sugar - 200 g
- Vanilla sugar - 1 package.
- Cinnamon - 1/2 tsp.
- Rum - 40 ml
- The sugar syrup - 3 tbsp.
- Flour - 200 g
- Cocoa powder - 50 g
- Leavening agent - 10 g
- Nuts - 200 g
Step by step instruction of cooking Berlin "bread"
I had a mixture of walnuts, hazelnuts and almonds.
Nuts do not regret, put more!
Whisk the eggs with the sugar,
add vanilla sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
The sugar beet syrup mixed with rum added.
Then sifted flour with baking powder and cocoa, all mixed.
Last add the nuts, stir with a spoon.
The result is a fairly thick batter.
Turn on the oven at 175*C.
The dough is put into shape on the baking paper, level.
Bake for 25-30 minutes at 175*C.
Readiness check with a wooden toothpick. It may seem that the cake is moist but that is OK.
For the glaze mixed 250 grams of powdered sugar and 4 tbsp of mulled wine, I wanted the frosting was pink. Instead of mulled wine, you can add lemon or other juices to taste.
The liquid added to the powdered sugar slowly all the time stirring to get a smooth shiny mass.
Fill the cake with frosting, let cool.
