Whence came kipferl. According to some sources it was invented by Baker Peter Wendler, during the siege of Austria from Turkish invaders. Cookie was in the shape of a Crescent, the symbol of Turkey. According to other sources this cookie is done long before Wendler as a pagan ritual cookies.
